PM Modi introduces Kamala Harris, other world leaders with unique gifts from Kashi

During his ongoing visit to the United States, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had bilateral talks with Vice President Kamala Harris and presented her with a bunch of unique gifts from India.

PM Modi presented Kamala Harris with a copy of old notices relating to his grandfather, PV Gopalan, in a handcrafted wooden frame. PV Gopalan was a respected government official who held various positions in India.

PM Narendra Modi was also gifted Kamala harris a gulabi meenakari chess set. Gulabi meenakari craftsmanship is closely associated with Kashi, one of the oldest cities in the world, which is also the constituency of PM Modi.

Each piece of this particular chess set is remarkably handcrafted while the vibrant colors reflect Kashi’s vibrancy. Prime Minister Modi and Kamala Harris are holding a series of White House talks and then released a joint statement on strengthening Indo-American ties, tackling Covid-19 and other global issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi described Kamala Harris as an “inspiration” to many around the world and expressed confidence that bilateral relations will reach new heights under President Joe Biden and his leadership.

PM Modi later met with other Quad leaders. he gifted Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison a silver meenakari gulabi vessel, which is also handcrafted and reflects the dynamism of Kashi.

Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga received a sandalwood Buddha statue.

Buddhism plays a big role in bringing India and Japan together. The thoughts and ideas of Lord Buddha reverberate throughout Japan. On his previous visits to Japan, PM Modi also visited Buddhist temples.
